AfroIntroductions.com Review
In the world of online dating, there are many different sites. People have different tastes, and they want a platform where they can get what they need quickly. Let’s face it – if you’re interested in AfroIntroductions.com, chances are you like black men or women.
Sadly, you probably don’t have your African queen or prince by your side. That’s why you’re considering signing up for Afrointroductions.com, but before you do that, I suggest reading my review to get a better understanding of what this site is all about.
In my review, I will talk about some general features of this dating platform, the sign-up process, memberships, users, safety, and everything else in between. So let’s start.
Overview
AfroIntroductions.com is owned by Cupid Media. Ever since 2000, this company has been developing niche dating sites. Some of their best sites are FillipinoCupid.com, ThaiCupid.com, and MilitaryCupid. They’ve been successful in providing personalized niche dating for specific people.
With this in mind, AfroIntroductions.com should be a great dating site, but this isn’t necessarily the case. The goal of this site is to help people find hot African singles.
People of African origin are dominant members on the site, and the design is really pleasant and intuitive. However, AfroIntroduction.com isn’t without its flaws. For me, personally, the area that lacks the most is security and transparency.
Sign-Up
The whole sign-up process is quick and easy. Like with all dating sites, you have to be 18+ to create an account on the site. AfroIntroductions offers two sign-up options:
- Via Facebook
- Via Email
I tried both to see what’s what. Signing up through Facebook is really fast, but your accounts will be linked. What I didn’t like is that people on the platform can see your Facebook feed. I think most people don’t want to mix these two together. Even if you want to do that with someone, you can connect on Facebook.
When you click on “sign up” on the homepage, you will get a window that requires you to add some basic information like your email, password, gender, age, name, and gender preference. It takes about two minutes to finish everything, and you’re ready to go.
Of course, there are questionnaires through which you can add more information about yourself to get matched better. What I don’t like is that the site advertises that everything is for free, but of course, you will have lots of limitations without the premium subscription.
Members & Profiles
I wasn’t able to find any detailed information about the members of the site. The company claims that AfroIntroductions has 2.5 million members. The site has a lot of testimonials that seem real, which led me to believe that their claims are trustworthy.
The site has 350k members in the US, while others come from the Netherlands, the UK, Germany, France, and various African countries. Around 60% of site members are male, which isn’t ideal, but most dating sites have similar gender proportions.
There isn’t any accurate information about how many users or of African descent.
Afrointroductions.com Safety
AfroIntroductions doesn’t have profile verification. I was surprised to find that out when I was signing up. I reviewed a lot of dating sites, and this has become a standard. At the same time, Cupid Media is known to have secure dating sites.
I think that this is very important for preventing fake accounts. Sure, it can be a nuisance when creating your account, but it’s better to be safe than sorry, right?
Their fraud prevention team is only focused on checking photos and removing profiles without personal information. Sure, this is good, but this isn’t enough for a completely safe dating experience.
Is Afrointroductions.com legit?
Yes, the site is legit, but this doesn’t mean it’s completely free of any scams. It’s one of the largest black dating sites in the world, and there are many legit users. The company behind the site has 20 years of reputation to protect.
However, there’s nothing strange in coming across fake profiles on the site. I personally talked to about a dozen people, and almost half of them were fake profiles or inactive. As I said before, there is no profile verification when registering.
And that leaves room for many fake profiles. On the other hand, because the site doesn’t clean up inactive profiles, you can often send messages to people that are gone for a long time. I also read several comments about people being scammed on the site.
Pros and Cons of Afrointroductions
Pros / Cons
- You can look at profiles with a free membership
- Has the tag feature Cupid is known for
- Verification system for photo content
- Versatile membership options
- Nice mobile app
- Video chat
- Large number of members
- Inactive and fake profiles
- Free memberships have lots of limitations
- No profile verification
- Proven scams
Costs and Prices
As I’ve mentioned earlier, free memberships have lots of limitations. You basically can’t do anything. You can’t even test it properly and learn if the subscription is worth it before paying up. So I did it for you guys.
With the free option, you can only set up your account and hope that someone will contact your first, which won’t happen because the site favors paid members in search filters. Premium membership options:
- One-month membership: $35
- Three-month membership: $20 per month or $60 in total
- 12-month membership: $10 per month or $120 in total
Conclusion
When looking at the whole online dating world, AfroIntroductions is a bit more over average in my book. However, when it comes to Afro dating, it’s one of the best out there. Sadly this is the truth. The main reason why I don’t like it is the site’s lacking security. However, if you are careful and patient, you can meet some really hot singles.
